To any objective eye that was there, clearly the results were not definitive. Each time the staff have played the sophs it has been pretty even w/ the sophs eeking out the victory, despite the fact that the staff have not yet put forth its most potent lineup. This past mon was yet another training opportunity for the new staff such as judge and chris who are first-timers. With bree, henry, mo, and john I don’t think the sophs have a chance. This is a best of 7 w/ sophs up 2-0.
I heard that Henry and Daryl were not even there for the match. Their presence would clearly have had a huge impact on the outcome of the game. I’m just not sure if any of the sophs can effectively match up against Henry.
The comment by Henry who speaks in third person conjures up a vivid image of a sophomore bro rendering Henry utterly helpless all the way at the other side of the pool, 25 meters away from where the basket was.
I think injuries and absences are just part of the game…not excuses. After the first series against the staff last year, students won and that’s that. This semester, the students won again, win is a win. If the staff wants to play water basketball again, we are open to it b/c we have seen what they are capable of and we are not impressed.
I laughed so hard when I realized the comment was left by Henry.
Anyways, it was pretty much over when Pastor Manny said “hey if you lose , its over, no more excuses.” But we won, so no more excuses. Also, we had the clear disadvantage of having too many people, so we had to let hurting people in like myself who was too small guard any big guys. On the other hand, I believe John Lin from your team played multiple games. But like a true team just built from the ground up from pure dedication and hard-work, we could overcome those disadvantages.
I just think the over-Archie problem here is that the staff just can’t take a fair loss and let it go. I think Pastor Manny acknowledged the definitiveness of Monday by stopping the trash talk after the 5th game.
that’s pretty archie, kg! It was a tight, neck and neck battle in the last game. I recall score was 4 to 3 staff. but props to the sophs for coming back. But now seriously, can we say it was definitive when yang shot 5 for 5 from the field and scored all of the sophs points? if james had not come up hurting in the last game, then Yang would have never entered. Yang going 5 for 5. When is that ever going to happen again? Not too likely.
Pastor Manny, I don’t think you were even a factor in any of the games (either that or you definitely didn’t have a memorable afternoon!)
But really for Henry’s post, like James I actually cracked up when I realized it was Henry writing it. That and I think Henry needs to be humbled. What happened to gracious in defeat? Don’t you think if the sophs had lost we’d have just quietly walked away? =]
First, thanks for everyone’s comments. But I have to say that staff were up 2-1 when I left to bring some hungry freshmen over to lunch at the 605. And then the students won the next two games.
John Lin in the game, staff 2-1.
John Lin not playing, students 2-0.
I guess there’s a pattern.
I think I know who DM is…and, I have to say, he is so HURTING. When he played water basketball against the frosh of last year, he and his team suffered a definitive defeat.
Having already won the water basketball game this year, I see the sophs only improving from semester to semester. Soon, we’ll simply sweep the staff in water basketball.
In response to the recent poll, I think the staff is frustrated b/c the staff brothers have begun to lose their control in different events (basketball, ping-pong, etc.) and these highly bias polls are the staff’s way of getting back at the sophs.
It was so obviously definitive.
The sophs took down the staff fair and square. Especially even with John Lin. This is what happens when a good team of bros comes together.
And we rocked the staff in the relay, too.
The choices are hurting. 6th option: “The series was definitive and the staff should get used to losses like these.”

I like how the staff are getting each other to vote for the false and hurting options.
Just wait until we get into the Millenium Lab / PCL tomorrow.

All I know is I had Archie locked down cold. I don’t know why my arms still hurt, though.
Oh man. It must feel very Archie

to answer wayno’s question, “No”.
I just wanna say I didn’t feel a difference w/ John Lin playing. :O
That’s cause Kevin kept on having water splashed in his face.
Too bad I wasn’t there or else it would’ve been over for the frosh
Wondering who is the person w/ initials, DM.
We all laughed when we found out who DM was.

No matter what tactics the staff use to get back at us for their sound defeat(s), we’ll still let them have a rematch if they DMand it.
