On Saturday the Freshmen class braved the morning chilly weather for an exciting time of flag football, volleyball, and ultimate frisbee. After we worked up an appetite, it was time for some good old fashioned burgers and dogs. Though we couldn’t go kayaking, we nevertheless had a great time of sports, food, and fellowship. We even ended our day with a regional co-ed Australian Relay race between Dallas, Houston, and Everyone else (of which 3 El Paso track stars competed). Don’t miss the next one!

This was the music video that we saw at the Winter Retreat 2011 this past weekend during one of the messages Pastor Ed gave. It’s a powerful illustration of what happens when we take those seemingly small steps towards crossing boundaries.

Flickr VideoLast week, various staff hosted Freshmen groups to their homes for dinner, games, and a movie. Here’s a look at one of the homes that had a potsticker making time followed by an intense game of Catchphrase and the Couch Game.
Flickr VideoWhat a wonderful 3-day trip out to Texas hill country! The 2010 fish drove out to a pair of huge houses right on the Guadalupe River, where we had snacks and a riotous round of king kong shower the first night. We got up (relatively) early the next morning to head out to Enchanted Rock State Park before it filled up (it’s really popular!). We ‘rocked’ the Summit Trail, some of the students even challenging P. Manny to a race up the near 20 degree incline (no comment on who won), and after enjoying the view from the top of the Rock, we headed into a twisty, turny, dark, but adventuresome cave on the north face of the Rock! Lots of people mentioned this time as a memorable moment, especially with people (sometimes literally) being willing to give each other a hand through the maze of underground crevices. [Read more...]
