Deals, Deals, Deals!!!
One thing all students have in common is that ever-present feeling of not having enough money. With the rising costs of tuition and textbooks, it’s difficult to find places to cut corners on spending. But having been around UT for a few years, there are some simple ways to save money, especially on food, and perhaps treat a friend in the process too.

- Student Discount Handbook: During the beginning of the year, some companies produce a small booklet with coupons at local eateries, knowing that most people don’t have easy access to a car. Look out for them such as the Student Discount Handbook, as there are many BOGO (buy one get one) deals around town. Some even have a website where you can print those identical coupons. You can usually find them in the booklet/newspaper dispensers in front of the dorms.
- Discount cards: you must have seen them around during high school, but these discount cards go for about $10 and they last for a semester or year, for a variety of deals around town. The best thing is that they are reusable too.
- Daily Texan Super Tuesday coupons: Every Tuesday the Texan has a page of coupons which you can clip and save, one of which is a BOGO at Amy’s Ice Cream that lasts thru Feb. 2011. Some stores even let you print them for repeat savings. Click here.
